Goals
1. We are a Biblical Counseling Center, which
means WE COUNSEL. We are here to assist the local church by giving
experienced counseling help with tough cases. In the two years of
the East Michigan Office's existence, we have conducted nearly
1,000 counseling sessions.
2. We offer training in Biblical Counseling to the local church and
all Christian ministries. Each Spring we conduct the Track One
basic training course that is required by NANC (National
Association of Nouthetic Counselors) in order to apply for
NANC-certification. (For full information on certification
requirements, visit NANC's website at www.nanc.org). We also hold
special continuing education seminars and our yearly Summer
Counseling Institute, focusing on a specific area of
counseling.
3. We offer special conferences to churches on key areas of
Marriage, Family, Parenting and Christian living. In addition to
Marriage and Parenting conferences, we have conducted seminars for
local churches on Finances, Communication, a Men's Conference on
Dealing with Lust, etc. Our staff is also available for Sunday
pulpit supply and we are regularly preaching in local
churches.
4. We are a Biblical Counseling "Think Tank," developing Bible
studies and materials on various counseling issues from our
research in the Scriptures. Where the busy pastor does not have
time to focus on more than one or two issues at a time, we are able
to constantly research the Scriptures on the many complex
counseling issues that arise. Our goal is to ultimately be an
extensive material resource center for pastors and churches.
5. Mentoring struggling pastors and their families. Good men become
discouraged, struggle and leave the ministry because they have no
one to turn to who can help them work through their own life and
family issues. We are a place these pastors can turn to and we have
already assisted nearly 20 families in fulltime ministry in
resolving issues and getting back on track.
6. Biblical conflict resolution for pastors and congregations. In
our two years of existence we have assisted six churches in
resolving internal conflicts biblically, preventing them from
dishonoring Christ by dissolving into bitterness and divisive
factions.
In just three years of existence, God has allowed us to assist over
100 churches in Southeast Michigan in the various ways listed
above.
